CITIZENSHIPImre has argued for years, that the parliament has to eliminate the infringement with the Constitution, that the citizens by birth must give up Estonian citizenship at the age of 18, while having also the citizenship of another country. Estonia must allow multi-citizenship with the European Union and those countries with the largest Estonian communities in the world.
Imre promises to initiate an amendment to the Citizenship Act in the parliament to help nearly 200,000 Estonian citizens, who are currently living abroad and have inherited Estonian citizenship from their parents. So that their children can keep Estonian language and culture alive in the world.
Today's situation is unconstitutional and has to be fixed. Estonian children born abroad must currently give up their Estonian citizenship at the age of 18. Such a small country, like
Estonia cannot afford to keep losing our citizens day by day. Every single Estonian is important to us, no matter where they live in the world!
